The main opposition Congress criticized the government's attempt to portray its failure as a success. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor described the budget as 'small' and 'disappointing'. He said, the government has the skill to show its failure as a success. The budget speech was very short and disappointing.Many issues are not touched upon in it. You can't talk about youth empowerment when 45 percent of the country's youth are unemployed. Sitharaman mentioned about Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). However, she forgot to mention that FDI during the UPA regime has come down from 3.6 percent to 1 percent of the current GDP.Congress MP Manish Tiwari said, the government has only indulged itself. There is a loss of Rs.18 lakh crore in the current financial year. It will increase further in the year. It is clear from this that the government is running the expenditure by borrowing.
